Cryptome: New spyware and rootkits for cell phones

Most of this software was probably originally developed for government, but is now available to the public and works on GSM phones. One blogger recommended GlobalGSMControl

Global GSM Control has the power to do a lot of impressive things with the multitude
of features it offers.

Depending on your needs, Global GSM Control offers versions with the
bare minimum of features espionage until the most complete version offering an arsenal of
powerful tools. For you to assess your needs and make your choice!

TOR was financed by the US Department of State

What is Tor?

Tor is free software and an open network that helps you defend against a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security known as traffic analysis.

Rightardia has known that TOR was created by the Department of Navy with possible help from the NSA.

The Department of State funded an initiative to distribute the software. Here is the some of the US government accounting information that shows TOR was funded through the Department of State.

Did the RBN break RSA encryption to steal the RQ-170 drone?

Rightardia noticed this email posted on Cryptome today.

Date: Thu, 05 Jan 2012 16:35:31 -0800
From: "J. Oquendo" <joquendo[at]e-fensive.net>
Subject: RSA - Hackers and Predator Drones

A few months ago, I did a down and dirty reverse analysis of the RSA compromise and posted a video of it. In my video, after dissecting, scouring through many lists (some private) that deal with malicious networks (think lists like Shadowserve, BadIP.info, etc), I concluded that the RSA attack was somehow connected more to the "Russian Business Network" than to China. Many scoffed at it. Lo and behold, the predator drone incident...

http://www.infiltrated.net/rsa-comp-analysis/ (My original RSA reverse malware analysis)

Quoting from Cryptome's iran-rsa-cipher.htm:
"There was a report today that the Russians helped Iran intercept the drone:

http://www.intelligenceonline.com/north-america/government-intelligence

The Russian claim could be a cover-up of an RSA decrypt"

More from Cryptome:

"Have you heard anything additional about Iran's spoofing of GPS to misdirect the stealth drone to land it where they wanted?

Military-band GPS (M-code) is protected against spoofing by the RSA cipher.

In admitting that they spoofed military GPS are they admitting to the world that they've cracked RSA?

ComodoHacker claimed he had also broken into EMC's RSA servers, and he claimed to be in pursuit of a cryptanalytic attack against RSA.

Just wondering if you'd heard anybody else mention RSA in regards to Iran's GPS spoofing.

If they really did spoof GPS to misdirect the drone they would have had to have broken red-key mode M-code GPS, which is the military GPS signal used in classified hardware (black-key mode is used in unclassified hardware).

They could have done this in two ways:
  1. by fast-factoring large semiprimes that are the basis of RSA
  2.  by stealing the secret red key.
If the Russians have access to Red key M-code GPS data, this has other implications. M-code GPS data can be used for accurate targeting of battlefield or even military or government installations in the US.

Equity Strategy: Plutonomy, buying luxury, explaining global imbalances

This is the summary of a paper that Citgroup published and Cryptome posted on its web site. The Citigroup writer looks at the industrial world in terms of Plutonomies and the egalitarian bloc.

The US and Switzerland are plutonomies because neither nation experienced the worst horrors of World War 2. The US was spared by geography and Switzerland by remaining neutral during the war.

After World War 2, many of the European nations , the UK and Japan had to rebuild. Fascism and militarism were defeated in these counties and a more egalitarian economic system arose that Republicans would call socialistic.

Now you know why the US is always complaining about NATO not spending enough on defense.

This is also why Donald Rumsfeld's "Old Europe" comments were such a misnomer. Europe rebuilt after WW2. The US didn't and still suffers from a  crumbling infrastructure.

Here is the Citigroup summary of its document:

➤ The World is dividing into two blocs - the Plutonomy and the rest.  The U.S., UK, and Canada are the key Plutonomies - economies powered by the wealthy. Continental Europe (ex-Italy) and Japan are in the egalitarian bloc.
➤ Equity risk premium embedded in “global imbalances” are unwarranted.  In
plutonomies the rich absorb a disproportionate chunk of the economy and have a massive impact on reported aggregate numbers like savings rates, current account deficits, consumption levels, etc.  This imbalance in inequality
expresses itself in the standard scary “ global imbalances”.  We worry less.
➤ There is no “average consumer” in a Plutonomy.  Consensus analyses focusing on the “average” consumer are flawed from the start.   The Plutonomy Stock Basket outperformed MSCI AC World by 6.8% per year since 1985.  Does even better if equities beat housing.  Select names:  Julius Baer, Bulgari,
Richemont, Kuoni, and Toll Brothers.

One of many interesting graphics in this study.
Check out the complete article at http://cryptome.org/0005/rich-pander.pdf. It is fascinating reading and provides insight on how the corporate board of a large bank looks at the world.
