Students stage protest in Baton Rouge

College students were up bright and early and Baton-Rouge bound.


University of Louisiana SGA President Chris Groh tells us, "When you live in college you really do kind of live in a bubble you don't watch the 5 o'clock news, you pay attention only to whats happening in your daily life, i think that has definitely changed now."

Protestors chanted, "1 2 3 4 don't cut our budget anymore 5 6 7 8, budget cuts are what we hate."

The rally really kicks up when Southern University arrives on the steps, in no time the schools are chanting and waving signs, Many of them highly critical of Gov. Bobby Jindal, but as Groh explains, he's not the focus:

"This message needs to be brought out to everyone not just the governor. but to all the elected officials."

More cheering and jeering from the crowd: "What do we want? Funding! When do we want it? Now."

"Hey hey, Ho ho, Bobby Jindals got to go."

The crowd, though excited, maintains civility. In the days before the rally --rumors of rough stuff breaking out, but that's not the case on this day. This is just a group of students taking a stand for their education.

"For those who say we're apathetic, I mean come on, all we can do is prove them wrong by doings stuff like this," Groh tells KATC indicating the UL crowd over his shoulder.


A big thing-- a big cut: The worst case scenario we've heard from officials- $500 million dollars. Where that will come from remains to be seen.

Gov. Jindall later announced alter that the $500 million in federal funds would be used to bolster up other holes in the budget and not for education.

Gov. Jindall and Pawlenty cancel Acorn Funding in their states?

Good move. Both are considered top contenders for the Republican presidential primary in 2012. Sometimes it is good to check with the legislature to find out how much money is being appropriated for Acorn first.

In this case, Acorn does not receive state funds in either Louisiana or Minnesota. Didn't someone say that Bobby Jindall was supposed to be one of the brightest of the new generation of Republicans?

Bob Jindall's fave Hindu diety

"Devotees carry statues of the Hindu elephant god Ganesh, the deity of prosperity, for immersion in the sea on the last day of "Ganesh Chaturthi" in Mumbai September 3, 2009. Clay statues of Ganesh are made two to three months before the day of "Ganesh Chaturthi", a popular religious festival in India.

The statues are taken through the streets in a procession accompanied by dancing and singing, to be immersed in a river or the sea symbolizing a ritual see-off of his journey towards his abode in "Kailash", while taking away with him the misfortunes of all mankind. [Agencies]

Rightardia comment: Ganesh is the god of the common man so he kind of a Hindu Jesus. Ganesh is a non-sectarian deity, and Hindus of all denominations invoke him at the beginning of prayers, important undertakings, and religious ceremonies. Many Indians beleive that Ganesh takes human form and walks among them.

It is easy to understand why Ganesh is Bobby Jindall's messiah.
