New Russian SA-22 Greyhound tactical air defense system

Pantsir-S1 gun and missile air defense systems –is a new development from Russian weapons makers. the new weapon system has taken part in drills near Astrakhan. According to the training scenario, a Pantsir-S was to destroy a target missed by S-300 missile crews.This system is known under the NATO designation SA-22 Greyhound. it is a unique tactical system because because missile and anti-aircraft cannons integrated into the chassis.

The Pantsir was to hit a Strizh imitation target mimicking the flight of a cruise missile. The target was travelling at a speed of 250 meters a second.

The mock attack scenario was complicated by a command order to quickly move the field officers to new coordinates. They were allowed to fire only after they had chosen a more suitable firing point. The Pantsir-S complied with the new parameters in a matter of minutes.

Following the counter attack, the Pantsir-S’ developers went to the test range to look for fragments of the demolished target. These will be carefully examined to make the air defense system more effective.

For the first time, the Pantsir-1 combines two combat functions: a single military vehicle is fitted with both missiles and cannons. Pantsir-1 missiles are capable of destroying any modern attack delivery vehicle. The cannons, in addition to air targets, can also engage land based targets.

The main purpose of the system is to protect industrial plants, military units and mobile air defense systems. This year, the first generation of Pantsir-S system will join the Russian army. The general public will see the new weapon at the Victory Day Parade on Red Square on May 9.

The intellectual and moral retardation of Republicans

Rightardia wasn't sure what a recent Sarah Palin Tempest in a Tea Pot was all about. This event happened last August when the White House Chief of Staff was attacking liberal groups who were unhappy with the Obama health care plan. We weren't sure why the 'has been' Sarah Palin would bring this up at this late of date.

Apparently it was the word retarded that got her goat. Of course, Emanuel was not making a reference to people with disabilities. Sarah Palin would probably be unhappy with the name of this blog which combines the word right with retarded.

Rightardia does believe that many right wingers are intellectually and morally retarded. This is to say that they are not the intellectual equals of progressives and liberals in the Democratic party. That is not to say that Republicans have less intelligence than Democrats.

The GOP has disintegrated into an anti-intellectual party of under educated people who are led by fraternity brother and sorority sisters that came out of the Greek system. Southern fundamentalist colleges have also produced many of the Republican leaders.

People like George W. Bush, John McCain and Sarah Palin underperformed in school. The newly elected Governor Bob McDonnell of Virginia wrote a biased master's theses that would not be accepted in a main stream public or private college.

Polish newspaper says the US will abondon ABM missile shield

The U.S. administration has denied allegations that they might cancel the installation of an anti-missile defense (AMD) shield in Poland. It says the project is still underway, though no final decision has been made. Sixty per cent of Poles oppose the missile deployment.

Rightardia's view is the the Bush era AMD program is another wasteful fascist fear monkey program that is designed to roll billions into conservative defense corporate coffers. Since Ronald Reagan’s initial Star Wars speech in 1983, well over $120 billion has been spent.

We need a national health care system first before we commit to a program that may never work and will cost hundreds of billion of dollars to deploy. We need to negotiate nuclear arms reductions with the Russians and Chinese before we escalate the strategic nuclear arms race.

The Major commented the US has spent billions of strategic bombers that fly local missions around US air force bases and missile launch officers who sit in silos 'Waiting for Godot.'

After World War 2 had ended, almost half of the defense budget was spent on such strategic weapons systems. There is a more intelligent way to use tax dollars than throwing it into the strategic defense 'glory hole.'
