Premier Silvio Berlusconi is a paragon of bad taste

Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi received plenty of attention a few months ago for stacking Parliament and his cabinet with former beauty queens and attractive actresses, something even his wife, Veronica Lario, publicly attacked him about. He was also involved with an 18 year old lingerie model and maintains a harem environment in his villas in Rome and Sardinia. Lario is divorcing the premier.

Berlusconi has chosen as his escort for the upcoming G-8 meeting a former topless model, Mara Carfagna. She also happens to be his "opportunities minister."

From the Telegraph:

The one-time Miss Italy contestant will be supported in the role by another attractive young member of the cabinet, education minister Maria Stella Gelmini.

Mr Berlusconi is said to have chosen Miss Carfagna and Miss Gelmini to reward them for being "staunch champions" as he has battled allegations that he slept with a high-class call-girl at his mansion in Rome last November. Two lesbian prostitutes also attended the party.

Puerto Rico has their own Carrie Prejean

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The Miss Puerto Rico Petite competition canned the reigning queen . The pageant staff accused the young woman of "intolerable conduct" that included threatening and assaulting pageant staff.

Keishla Villafane Rivera also used "coarse language" and violated her contract by agreeing to use her image in an advertisement without the pageant's consent.

Luis Santiago Productions, the pageant company, said it dismissed the 19-year-old queen after she made death threats and assaulted staff members.

But she said problems between the queen and pageant officials began shortly after the woman won the title last August.

The production company appointed another contestant, Tamara Perez, to serve the remainder of Villafane's term, which expires Aug. 26 with the next competition.

The contest is open to 16- to 24-year-olds who are 5-foot-5 or shorter. Villafane is 5-feet-2.

Beauty contests are taken very seriously in Puerto Rico. Five of its citizens have won the Miss Universe contest.

Conservative Playboy of the Western World embroiled in another Scandal

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has found himself embrioled in one more scandal. He had nude people running round his villa, he ran buxom Italian babes in the last EU election, and his wife has asked for a divorce after media disclosed his interest in an 18-year-old lingerie model, Noemi Letizia.

Berlusconi has also compared himself to Napoleon and Jesus Christ. A Vatican cardinal even criticized the PM. The PM also has powerful opponents in his own conservative party who want him replaced.

Berlusconi denies that he paid female escorts to attend parties at his house, Reuters reports.

Mr. Berlusconi, 72, says the accusations during a government investigation in the southern city of Bari, are "false trash.” he believes it is part of a plot to discredit him before next month's G8 summit when he will host world leaders.

When will the Italian people tire of this old lecher? Italy is a wonderful country.

Why can't the Italian people elect a sensible leader? Wake up, Italy, you can elect a better person than Silvio Berlusconi.
