Tampa Bay Times: Scrutiny in Pinellas pot-growing cases turns to whether deputies trespassed to get evidence

LARGO — "Pinellas County sheriff's Deputy Kyle Alston was asked a disturbing question last month about two narcotics detectives: Had he ever seen them "climb over fences'' to gather evidence against suspected marijuana growers?

"Climb over fences'' is short-hand for trespassing, which is illegal and could jeopardize prosecutions.

Alston, who was under oath, refused to answer."

This is a follow-up story to another in which Pinellas Sheriff's detectives were posing as Progress Energy workers to gain access to homes without a warrant. Sheriff's detectives have also been monitoring energy consumption in neighborhoods using progress energy customer records without a warrant. Rightardia believes there is collusion between he sheriff's department and Progress Energy. 

The TT story is interesting because Pinellas county detectives have become 'pepping Tom's" who build platforms to looks over residential fences. They also peek into the windows of the unsuspecting home owners.

Tampa Bay Times: More questions arise over tactics by Pinellas sheriff's narcotics unit

LARGO — "Three Pinellas narcotics detectives improperly and routinely accessed Progress Energy billing records for years, then misled the State Attorney's Office to cover their tracks, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri acknowledged Friday.

The arrangement had "the air of deceit,'' he said, and could weaken the state's ability to prosecute the drug cases involved."

Rightardia noticed another story in which Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives were posing as Progress Energy energy auditors to get access to homes without a warrant. 


This story suggests that Progress Energy is collaborating with law enforcement. Law enforcement should never be able to log into a corporate customer DB unless the police have hacked in. In the past detectives form the sheriff's department were also wearing Progress Energy shirts. 


Rightardia thinks that BrightHouse Networks may also be collaborating with law enforcement. After we recently secured out network, a "tier 3 engineer" form BrightHouse Networks showed up at door unannounced at tried to walk into the office. 


He wondered if we were having trouble with out BrightHouse cable network. We told him "no" and refused to allow him to enter the premises. 


We found this BrightHouse engineer around the corner about an hour later working on a laptop. We suspect he was trying to hack into out office network.  


Our advice to readers, do not let unsolicited trades people into your home, particularly from Progress Energy or BrightHouse Networks.

Tampa Bay Times: Pinellas detective dressed as Progress Energy worker in search of marijuana

"A Pinellas sheriff's detective says that in an effort to seek out homegrown marijuana, he donned a Progress Energy uniform as a "ruse" and then entered a homeowner's property without a search warrant."


This is amazing. Police are dressing up as corporate repair people to gain access to homes without a warrant. Rightardia gets mail and phone calls all of the time for "free energy audits." 


Police monitor energy consumption looking for potential grow houses and then pose as corporate workers to get into a home without a warrant to see if something illegal is going on. 


of course, once the detective is given access to the home and sees anything illegal, they police would go in front of a judge to get a warrant and lie about how they got evidence of illegal activities.  


What 's the new policy of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office? As long as the police supervisor approves of the ruse and the corporations that is being impersonated will allow the police to use their corporate clothing, why not? 


Rightardia's advice. don't let Progress Energy or any third party person inspect your home. Call a company if you need services, but ignore unsolicited requests to "inspect your home." 


Insurance companies are also offering free inspections and if they see something in your home they consider a problem like an old roof, your insurance premiums will go way up.
