Is it a sin to cutback the defense industry?

A sin that the bloated defense industry will be cut back while the US infrastructure is crumbling? Of interest, 70 per cent of the economic stimulus was spent on defense.

Why is this? It's because every US congressman has a pet defense program in their backyard.

Republicans, of course, would prefer to cut back people programs like Social Security or Medicare rather than hallowed defense boondoggles.
