Erdogan, who was speaking after a visit to Iran, told reporters that an Israeli strike against Iran would have "disastrous" consequences for the region.
"The entire region would be devastated if Israel strikes Iran."
The Turkish premier indicated he shared his concerns about the consequences of an Israeli attack with US President Barack Obama.
Erdogan said that a regional war triggered by such a move "would not end up like the war between the US and Iraq. Israel should not attack Iran".
He further chatized the West for keeping mum about Israel's nuclear warheads while sanctioning Iran for its peaceful program.
Erdogan added:
Israel has between 250 and 300 nuclear warheads. Nobody is discussing that. Iran says they would not produce nuclear weapons. They are saying that they would produce a specific amount of enriched uranium rods and stop after that.
The Turkish PM added:
. . .No one has the right to impose anything on anyone with regard to nuclear energy, provided that it is for peaceful purposes.
Everyone with commonsense opposes nuclear weapons.
Rightardia applauds the Turkisk PM for his candor. Turkey is part of NATO and and an attack on Iran could fracture the NATO alliance.
If Turkey were to align with other Islamic nations in a regional war against Israel, Israel would be in for some deep doo doo.
