President Obama was on hand for the ground breaking at the site of the future Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Get a sneak peek of The National Museum of African American History and Culture which was approved by the Smithsonian Board of Regents in 2006, and the new building is scheduled to open to the public in 2015.
The Smithsonian Channel had two hour long features on this museum. Undoubtedly, some conservatives will whine about this museum and suggest another museum in needed for the white Christians that founded the US.
Of course, these white Christians were the same people who established the institution of slavery in the South, an error that did not occur in most other parts of the Americas.
There are racist posts on this You Tube video already. See http://youtu.be/D5QBN8bsmOk
The curator of the Museum, Lonnie G. Bunch III, made it clear that the museum is for all Americans, not just blacks and people of color.
