Israel claims it cancelled Austere Challenge 12
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is now claiming he called off the biggest ever joint US-Israeli military exercise Austere Challenge 12 scheduled for April 2012.
The Israeli government wants to "feel free" to attack Iran's nuclear sites on its own if necessary and at a time of its choosing. Apparently the presence of Us troops would somehow interfere with Israel's sovereignty.
Rightardia is inclined to believe Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is trying to save face and that the US cancelled its participation in Austere Challenge 12.
Let Israel go it alone. The US should pull 8,000 of the advanced cadre of Austere Challenge troops out of Israel. We also have forces redeployed in Iraq in Jordan and 15,000 members of our Armed Forces in Kuwait.
We have three carrier strike groups and one amphibious assault group near the the Strait of Hormuz.
Israel is acting like a temperamental child. Let them go after Iran alone.
Worst case: Israel could start World War 3 .
Best case: A regional war will follow.
In either case, the US is looking at a huge increase in oil prices and an expensive stalemate that will cost more than the $ one trillion Iraq War.
Is war with Iran the cost of "friendship" with our frenenemy, Israel?
