Neo-conservatives spin US ambassador's remarks

Oh, those right wing Israeli leg huggers are at it again.

The U.S. ambassador to Belgium made remarks about anti-Antisemitism that infuriated some Israelis and neo-conservative groups in the US who have asked for his for Ambassador Howard Gutman's resignation,  Gutman is Jewish American.

Gutman made these remarks to European Jewish groups in Brussels last week. These are his actual words.

A distinction should be made between traditional Antisemitism, which should be condemned, and Muslim hatred for Jews, which stems from the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.

What Gutman is really doing is making a distinction between antisemitism and anti-Zionism, Of course, anti-Zionism is not a term out dear state department uses.

Antisemitism (also spelled anti-semitism or anti-Semitism) is suspicion of, hatred toward, or discrimination against Jews for reasons connected to their Jewish heritage.

Zionism according to Wikipedia  is a Jewish political movement that, in its broadest sense, has supported the self-determination of the Jewish people in a sovereign Jewish national homeland. Since the establishment of the State of Israel, the Zionist movement continues primarily to advocate on behalf of the Jewish state and address threats to its continued existence and security.

In a less common usage, the term may also refer to non-political, cultural Zionism, founded and represented most prominently by Ahad Ha'am; and political support for the State of Israel by non-Jews, as in Christian Zionism.

Anti-Zionism is opposition to and criticism of Zionism. Many people are opposed to Jewish nationalism or Zionism because of the apartheid polices toward Palestine and the unwillingness of Israel to negotiate a settlement with the Palestinian for the past 60 years.

Many anti-Zionist people are not anti-Semitic, but some authors suggest that anti-Zionism has anti-Semitic roots.

Rightrdia thinks it is possible to be non-prejudicial toward Jewish Americans without supporting of Israel's apartheid policies. It is possible to be anti-Zionist without having any animosity towards Jewish-Americans or for that matter, Israelis who live in Israel.

We are familiar with the view of the Israeli PM, Benjamin Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu. He is anti-Semitic in his own right because Palestinians are the cousins of the Israelis and are a Semitic people.
