Mediaite: GOP spin on Gov. Walker recall

The Wisconsin Republicans are getting nervous about the Scott walker recall and planting stories about one person signing 80 times and Mickey Mouse and Adolf Hitler signing the recall petition. The initial GOP tact was to tear up the pettions but that is a felony in Wisconsin.

The group United Wisconsin -- needs to collect 540,208 valid signatures by Jan. 17, which is 60 days after the campaign launched. Organizers said they are aiming for 600,000 to 700,000 signatures.

United Wisconsin had 300,000 signature on the Scott Walker recall petition in 12 days. The elections board made it clear that Walker has to challenge the signatures, not the elections board.

Walker is looking for volunteers and it is likely the recall will end up in the courts. A judge will probably end up making the decision whether the recall was legal. A judge is unlikely to be impressed with GOP obstructionism. The case could end up in the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

United Wisconsin is wise to get an many additional signatures as possible. Democrats haven't forgot about the "hanging chads" during Al Gore's run for president.
