We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Rightards suggest defense is the most important, but the Founders listed "providing for the common defence" third. The Founders also wanted to promote the General Welfare for Americans.
The word 'welfare" make rightards bristle, but it's in the Constitution.
In many respects, Homeland Security provides for the common defense whereas as the Department of Defense should be renamed the Department of Offense.
Obama would be smart to rename the Dod, the Department of Offense(DoO) and Homeland Security, the Department of Defense (DoD).
This way Americans would know where their tax dollars are really going.
