US Census: Child poverty increases in Florida

Nationally one if five American children lives in poverty. In Florida it is about one in four (23.5 per cent). This represents nearly 924,000 children. 

The number and percentage of  children in poverty increased in  27 states from the 2009 ACS to the 2010 American community Survey (ACS).

The child poverty rate increased 2.0 percentage points or more in Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.

The child poverty rate also increased by 1.5 percentage points or more in Alabama, California, Georgia,
and Louisiana, 

Child poverty increased by 1.0 percentage point or more in Florida, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin
