Cryptlogon: Cell phone records now require a search warrant

U.S. District Court Judge Lynn N. Hughes of the Southern District of Texas declared that the law authorizing the government to obtain cellphone records without a search warrant as unconstitutional on Nov. 11.

Judge Hughes said:

The records would show the date, time, called number, and location of the telephone when the call was made.

These data are constitutionally protected from this intrusion.

The decision will probably be appealed because conservative Supremes like Antonin Scalia doesn't believe the Forth amendment provides a right to privacy.
