In Mississippi, abortion rights advocates won a surprising victory.
The Associated Press projected that voters would defeat Initiative 26, a proposed amendment to the state’s constitution that would have defined the word “person” to include every human being “from the moment of fertilization, cloning, or the functional equivalent thereof.”
With about 60 percent of the precincts reporting results, 57 percent of voters cast 'no' votes against the measure.

This measure had many legal implication such as a person's birth date and could have made all forms of contraception illegal.
If the GOP coudn't win with this issue in the Bible belt, perhaps they need to rethink their political priority for planned parenthood.
