[Lee Saunders]: "I'm really excited about it, I think our folks from across the state are excited and I expect a huge victory."
AFSCME Secretary-Treasurer Lee Saunders, who's on the ground in Ohio as Ohio votes on the repeal of the Republican attack on public worker collective bargaining. Saunders says the movement to repeal the collective bargaining attack is crackling with energy.
[Lee Saunders 2]: "I've never felt the kind of energy that I'm seeing here.
We've been knocking on doors and making phone calls and leafleting at work sites and having rallies and pumping up our folks. And they understand the importance of this vote."
Saunders says AFSCME, all of labor and allied progressive and community groups are looking forward to continuing the fightback against attacks on working families in Wisconsin and nationwide.
[Saunders 3]: "We want to continue the fight, not only in Ohio but in Wisconsin. And I think this just sends a strong message across the country when we win this that working families - people who are playing by the rules every single day but cannot achieve that American Dream that they probably should be able to achieve - they're willing to make their voices heard and they're ready to fight back. This is much bigger than this state. And we plan on work to develop the necessary partnerships and coalitions so we can fight back like never before."
