Cryptlogon: Many Android phones ship with rootkit called Carrier IQ

The Carrier IQ rootkit  appears to be able to ID the manufacturer and model, available memory and battery life, the type of resident applications, the geographical location of the device, the end user’s data that has been keyed in, device history, including those that identify a user’s interaction with a device.

This rootkit has many of the features of keylogger malware. Another article indicates this code is also installed in Nokia, Blackberry, and likely many other cell phones. .

Rootkits are tough to eliminate. Many antivirus and malware programs cannot remove them because they are installed in the kernel of the operating system.

Who would monitor you phone with such software? The police or government investigative services is likely if this malware comes pre-installed on your cell phone.
