City of Clearwater headed for bankruptcy?

This is a single source report. The city of Clearwater may be headed for the bankruptcy court. The mayor's office will try to blame the bankruptcy on people with city pensions.

After 30 years of city work, a retiree can collect 80 per cent of their pay.

If there is a problem with city pensions, this would suggest some sort of a long term pension plan management problem.

All Rightardia can say is that the source of the information is reliable.

The Local 3179--CWA union web site has been temporarily suspended. A description of the site says:

City of Clearwater October 16, 2011. Background: The City of Clearwater initiated collective bargaining over their proposal to make changes to the City Pension

Clearwater has several meetings scheduled with unions about pensions this week.
