Hysterical Raisins: Calling all evangelicals

Three large projection screens allowed an estimated 30,000 people to watch and pray, sometimes on their knees.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry and other speakers took the stage and called on God to lead “a nation in crisis.”

The Response was a Christian prayer event and brainchild of Perry.

Clearly the GOP is hoping to activate evangelicals in the next election. the religious right was a factor in the election of GW Bush.

Can the US pray away the downgraded credit rating and the huge deficit. If only it were that easy. Perry also had a Texas day of prayer for rain that so far has left the state high and dry.

This is good political theatre if you are religious.

By the way the man in the foreground looks a lot like Rick Scottt, one of  Perry's Republican governor friends.
