During the June 3 edition of his radio show, Beck stated: "The left is in bed with those revolutionaries in the Islamic world."
How in the world could Beck conclude that the fate of the US is linked to Israel? First, you need to know that Beck is a Latter Day Saint (LDS).
First, Mormons or LDS believe they are the descendants of Jews and would not want anything bad to happen to their "homeland." However, Mormons have no status as Jews in Israel.
Mormons believe they are either direct descendants of the House of Israel, or were adopted into it. Mormons like Beck are generally pro-Israel. Check the Wikipedia reference for more information on the Mormon view of the relationship between the Later Day Saints and Judaism.
More important, the state of Israel must be intact for Christian fundamentalist prophesy to be fulfilled. There are many myths about the Rapture and the Red Heifer which signal the end of the world when Christ will return.
That's right! The world must end before Christ can return and fundamentalists and evangelicals are hoping for this dooms day. Otherwise, their savior cannot return!
