First look of "Windows 8"
Rightardia bought a new laptop that had Windows 7 installed. Windows 7 is elegant and we would expect this OS to be around for a long time.
The Contol Panel is a kluge and you have to type "disk defragmenter" in in the command line window to bring it up. Although Windows 7 is elegant , Linux has a more direct and functional interface.
But let's give the devil his due. Windows 7 is nice, but you will have to buy an anti-virus programs when the Norton Internet Security runs out in 60-days. But at least it came with an AV package unlike XP Pro.
Rightardia also purchased Advanced System Optimizer to take care of a host of problems that plague window systems.
Another freeware program we would recommend with windows is CCleaner. It has many privacy and security features and modifies your recovery bin so you can permanently delete files.
If you thought that file is gone for good when it goes into the recovery bin, you are mistaken.
The big advantage of Windows is drivers. Just about every manufacturer makes drivers that are windows compatible. In the case of Linux, check this site before you purchase hardware: http://www.linux-drivers.org/
