Have you been lubricating your home shredder?

Rightardia goes through about one shredder per year. In this Age of  Identity Theft, it is imperative that businesses and home users shred documents that contain banking information, passwords or other sensitive identity information.

The Major had used commercial cross cut shredders when he worked in the intelligence career field. These produce confetti like output.

After Iran had invaded the US embassy and reconstructed spaghetti cut US classified documents, it became clear that the better cross-cut shredder was needed.

After you shred documents, you should mix up the shred to make it harder to reconstruct.

You should also lubricate the shredder each time after you empty the shredder bin.

Simply draw a large S on the some waste paper with shredder lubricant and shred the paper. This will extend the life of the shredder. Be careful! This lubricant is watery.

The Office Depot lubricant in about $4 per bottle. It uses a low residue lightweight bio-degradable oil.

We have read that mineral oil will also work in a pinch, but mineral oil is certainly a lot heaver than the oil in the Office Depot bottle.
