RDR: The Republican 'Pledge'

Step into my parlor said the Republicans to the Middle Class Image

While Economic Royalists, their Republican and DINO operatives in government fan racist and homophobic flames to keep the people divided against themselves, it’s becoming clearer to normal people (non-Republicans) that Republicans have been waging a class war against working people since Reaganomics inflicted it’s supply-side, trickle-down, disaster on a once-vibrant middle class.

With the corrosive influence of money unleashed thanks to the right wing activist Supreme Court decision Citizens United, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is now officially acting as a money-laundering outlet for secret, well-healed interests, both foreign and domestic, to influence the US elections in favor of Republicans so they can continue turning the middle class of America into compliant serfs.

Many of the collection of ghouls known as this year’s Teabagger candidates are so confident in the power of money to influence the Sheeple through incessant pro-corporate propaganda, they don’t even feel the need to hide their once unspoken desire to privatize Social Security, privatize the Veteran’s Administration, privatize Medicare along with the New Deal policies that regulated corporate greed and created the upwardly mobile middle class the Republicans view as an “uppity” hindrance to unbridled profit.

So I was surprised to stumble across this Wall Street Journal editorial from August outright denying the inconvenient truth that in their own private Republican Apocalypse, Americans are merely hosts from which corporations suck profit unfettered by “pesky” government and die quickly without the help of a social safety net.

That’s the world Rush Limbaugh extols when he insists to his mouth-breathing followers “some people are just born to be slaves.” This is Ayn Rand’s sociopathic vision where she wrote in her original version of “We The Living”, “What are your masses [of humanity] but mud to be ground underfoot, fuel to be burned for those who deserve it?”

Who?  Republicans?  Destroy Social Security?  Harumph!  We would NEVER!  Harumph!  Harumph!  “Come into my parlor,” said the spider to the fly…

Heavens NOOOOO…   Republicans would NEVER want to get their hands on Social Security.  BUSH ONLY made handing Social Security over to Wall Street PART OF HIS PLATFORM and now considers his failure to do it one of his biggest regrets!

I have said it before and I will say it again.  The Republican agenda can be boiled down to 2 words – CHEAP LABOR.  Any social safety net is anathema to their worldview – they are not comfortable unless we “small people” are living and dying, like Tiny Tim, for the kindness of our “betters” and grateful for the scraps that fall from their tables.

To Republicans, NOTHING is worth doing unless some well-fed sociopath with a well-padded arse can make a buck off of it..  and I MEAN NOTHING – not even your HEALTH is worth a whit unless someone like Bill McGuire can take his 1.6 BILLION DOLLAR BONUS.   Yes… I said BILLION – look it up.

They do have a plot… well, more like a plan… Don’t take my word for it about their – LISTEN TO THEIR OWN WORDS…   Alan Simpson: “Social Security Is a milk cow with 310 million tits.”
Rush Limbaugh “Roosevelt is DEAD!  His policies may live on – but we’re in the process of doing something about THAT!”

So here’s this propaganda misinformation piece trying to belay people’s extremely founded fears.   Oh NOOOO – just like Republicans would NEVER, EVER, LIE our nation into a war of choice -  Republicans would NEVER, NEVER, NEVER touch your social safety net – they’ve only fought against it since it’s inception and have been trying to dismantle it ever since.

Republicans want to SAVE Social Security from the fake crisis they are inventing in order to dismantle it… just like they want to hand our government over to the whims of Wall Street and greed-centered corporations… for the good of the American Middle Class!  We know how well the Middle Class has fared under Republican control in the past.

Go into their parlor… they’ll tell you…
