He says national security is the most important role of the federal government. His Dad isn't a pacifist, but believes in the just war theory, ie no nationbuilding and no preemptive war.
National security is important but the US has far overdone defense and we produce nearly half the world's defense systems.
The other question, of course, is who is the enemy?
the Liberal part of libertarians is the libertarian's view of national security.
Otherwise, libertarians are very much like ordinary conservatives.
