Increased Threats to the President Put Strain on Secret Service

Posted: 10/18/09

The Boston Globe reports:
The unprecedented number of death threats against President Obama, a rise in racist hate groups, and a new wave of anti-government fervor threaten to overwhelm the US Secret Service.  This is according to government officials and reports, raising new questions about the 144-year-old agency's overall mission.

The Secret Service is tracking a broad range of possible threats to the nation's leaders. This is affecting its investigation of financial crimes such as counterfeiting that are part of its original mandate.

The last statistics Rightardia saw on presidential death threats was the Secret Service  was receiving 30 threats a month. We suspect the figure is now much higher.
