Bernie Madoff has some lovely cellmates

When not rubbing elbows with drug and sex offenders, Madoff spends time with Carmine Persico, a reputed Colombo crime family boss. Another acquaintance is  Jonathan Pollard, an American spy convicted of selling military secrets to Israel more than two decades ago.

The Israelis have been trying to spring Pollard from jail for a long time. Pollard's name will probably come up again in the Middle East if the Israeli and Palestinian peace talks progress. See http://www.jonathanpollard.org/

Salon.com also indicates that Madoff's company was fueled by drugs. Madoff's office so cocaine-laden insiders dubbed it "the North Pole." Office parties featured topless waitresses and employee affairs were common.

Madoff kept a list of his favorite pretty masseuses in his personal phone book, claiming investors' money helped pay for it all. "Employees described his company as a wild, fast-talking, drug-using office culture."  This information was detailed in a lawsuit against other employees in the former Madoff firm.
