My experience with Marines in the Armed Services indicated that most were heavily indoctrinated true believers in the American way.
In fact, the German National Socialists (Nazis) were on the right and Hitler got his start spying on socialists and liberals. He was allied with Italian fascists and fought against the leftist socialist government of the Soviets and the center left government of FDR. Hitler banned strikes and trade unions and was heavily supported by corporations such as Krups and Siemens.
The term National Socialist is an oxymoron. The Nazis were nationalists and German supremacists. In addition the Germans created a public health care system in the 1880s under Bismark, who was a conservative. The Nazis also desired a pure German race free of Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, Slavs and people with disabilities.
Noam Chomsky has pointed out in his books that the US took over the role of the Germans after World War 2 ended. The Marines and some elements of the Army became the new storm troopers after a Republican was elected president. Bush's 'shock and awe' in Iraq was the Republican version of a blitzkrieg.
Democrats know who the Brown Shirts are in the US. The Democratic Party doesn't start pre-emptive wars, torture or deny habeus corpus to Islamic prisoners, or run executive assassination squads. We didn't set up secret prisons in eastern Europe and the Middle East. We weren't the ones who antagonized the Russians who invaded South Ossetia.
Regarding health insurance, a employee can make a decision to pick a particular plan that an employer offers or not to participate at all. Employee health care choices are actually quite limited assuming your employer has the resources to offer health care at all.
