Were the Chinese given acess to the Uighurs at Gitmo?

WASHINGTON - A fight is brewing between Capitol Hill and the Pentagon over allegations that Chinese government  was allowed to interrogate some detainees at Guantanamo Bay.

Jay Alan Liotta, principal director of the Defense Department office responsible for detainee policy, told a House subcommittee that he would not publicly comment on whether foreign officials were granted access to Uighurs held at Gitmo.

He offered to release that information to the committee during a closed, classified session.

Rep. James P. Moran, D-Va., said he would introduce an amendment to strip funding for Liotta’s office if the Defense Department does not answer the question, in open session.

Four of the Chinese Turkic Muslims in custody, ethnic Uighurs, have already been sent to Bermuda. The Chinese government had to deal with  a huge July 5 riot in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Why are the Uighurs in the news so much? it's because the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region has lots of oil
