Senate hearings begin in two weeks on Sonia Sotomayor. Sixty two percent of those polled support her elevation to the Supreme Court.
If confirmed, Sotomayor will be the third female justice and the second on the current nine-member court. Her nomination is supported equally by men and women.
Partisan differences, however, abound. Nearly eight in 10 Democrats and about two-thirds of independents said they want the Senate to confirm Sotomayor. Less than four in 10 Republicans are happy about the pick.
Well, we did win the election now, didn't we?
