AHNC: Red State socialism

The states in blue which are primarily blue states pay in more federal taxes than they receive and are called the donor states.

The states that take more from the federal kitty than they pay in taxes are the recipient states and most of them are Red States.

Why does this happen? A lot is due to the low wage conservative culture in the south and the lack of unions. In addition, the federal government heavily subsidizes the energy industry in Texas and elsewhere and most military bases are in the south that add billions to the local payrolls.

But who whines about taxes the most. The folks in the Red states who have a lighter tax burden.

Mitt Romney's grandfather was a socialist and his father was born in Mexico

Mitten's father, George, was born in a Mormon polygamist commune in Chihuahua, Mexico. 

Gaskell Romney. Miottens's grandfather, moved to Mexico and founded the Mormon commune in Colonia Dublán, Galeana, Chihuahua, Mexico in 1885.

The Romney families lost their holdings in Chihuahua during the Mexican Revolution and in 1912 Romney moved back to the United States.

Because the Romney family lived in the Mexican commune for 27 years, George Romney wasn't even sure he was an American citizen when he ran as a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in 1968.

Under the circumstances, Mitt Romney meets the criteria for a Mexican anchor baby. We are surprised he isn't using his Mexican credentials to make inroads to the Hispanic community.

This is Mitt's resonse to the allegations about his family's past. Like Fox News, Rightardia wishes to be be 'fair and balnced."

Healthcare for the poor is socialism

Rick Santorum has also stated that he doesn't think there is even such a thing as a liberal Christian when discussing President Obamas religious views.

To take what is plainly written and say that 'I don't agree with that, therefore I don't have to pay attention to it,' means you're not what you say you are. You're a liberal something, but you're not a Christian.


What Santorum is preaching is religious intolerance. It is essentially my view of religion is right and your's is wrong.

Rightardia editorial: Democrats need to start using the political F-word

Rightardia listened to most of the last GOP Fox News debate and was surprised when Ron Paul mentioned fascism and the Sinclair Lewis quote. For years Democrats have been called socialists and sometimes worse, and most of us just shrug it off.

Rightardia's comeback when we are called socialist is "that  is what a fascist might say."

The Steve Kangas approach is too ask someone calling a Democrat a socialist to explain what socialism is.

Trust me on the Kanagas view. Most rightards don't have a clue what  socialism is and most confuse it with communism.

The Wikipedia definition of socialism is:

Socialism  /ˈsoʊʃəlɪzəm/ is an economic system characterized by social ownership of the means of production and cooperative management of the economy; or a political philosophy advocating such a system. 


Most scholars consider socialism to be an economic system while communism is a political system. Most communist governments like Cuba and North Korea have turned into hereditary dictatorships. China is the exception.

For example is Social Security socialism? Is a retirement system involved in the means of production? Does Social Security manage the economy? Is Social Security a political philosophy advocating public ownership of the means of production. .

Social Security is innocent as charged in all three cases. Social Security is simply a long term national saving plan.The most efficient way to manage it is with the government because it has lower overhead and a higher payout than any options in private enterprise.

Both the UK during the Margaret Thatcher era and Chile during the Augusto Pinochet era tried to privatized their versions of social security and in both cases, the privatization failed.

In the UK example, pensioners lost half of their social security savings during the grand right wing social engineering experiment. Pensioners were advised to return to government programs that were more secure and provided better benefits than private enterprise could offer.

What did Sinclair Lewis say about fascism? His quote is contained in the flag graphic.

Think about that a minute, Isn't patriotism, flag waving, bible thumping, prayer and religion the essence of the GOP? Is there any doubt about the movement of the GOP to the right with the Tea Party and ideologues like Allen West,

Has the GOP has descended into fascism?

Yes, it has.

But have you heard any Democrats call Republicans fascist when they hurled the frequent socialism slurs (s-bombs)? Democrats are too timid to throw back the the political F-word: fascism.

But Ron Paul wasn't. He mentioned fascism in the last debate.

Democrats prefer more politer terminology like "crony capitalism."

Well, crony capitalism is fascism for heaven's sake!

Let's call a spade what is is for once in the Democratic Party.

What is crony capitalism?

Republican operatives like to suggest a false duality: if you aren't for capitalism you must be a socialist or a communist. 

The Occupiers aren't against capitalism, per se, they are against the perverted version of capitalism we have in the US. 

Crony capitalism is a term describing a capitalist economy in which success in business depends on close relationships between business people and government officials. It may be exhibited by favoritism in the distribution of legal permits, government grants, special tax breaks, and so forth. Crony capitalism is believed to arise when political cronyism spills over into the business world; self-serving friendships and family ties between businessmen and the government influence the economy and society to the extent that it corrupts public-serving economic and political ideals.

What can be done to curb crony capitalism. We could reform the political system so that there are national plebiscites to make the country more democratic. 

We could tax the income, capital gains and the estates of the affluent to reduce their political influence. 

Of course, we would be in a perpetual cat fight with the GOP. 

Since we are there already, who cares!

TIME: Why China Does Capitalism Better than U.S

Beijing is also doing a far more effective job than Washington of tooling its economy to meet future challenges . . .according to historian Francis Fukuyama, a former neoconservative. Fukuyama said:

President Hu Jintao's rare state visit to Washington this week comes at a time when many Chinese see their weathering of the financial crisis as a vindication of their own system, and the beginning of an era in which U.S.-style liberal ideas will no longer be dominant.

Fukuyama said in the Financial Times said that the U.S. had little to teach China:

State-owned enterprises are back in vogue, and were the chosen mechanism through which Beijing administered its massive stimulus.

Fukuyama noted that polls show that a larger percentage of Chinese believe their country is headed in the right direction, compared with Americans.

China's success in navigating the economic crisis, wrote Fukuyama, was based on the ability of its authoritarian political system to "make large, complex decisions quickly, and ... make them relatively well, at least in economic policy."

It is true that China, with it single Communist Party, can move more quickly than the US with it dual party system or other western democracies with multi-party systems.


Of course, a single political party can also stagnate. Russia and Cuba are examples of that. China is an emerging power that has many problems and a long way to go. 


Although many conservatives thought the socialist era was over, China is proving that socialism is alive and well. Even the Russians are trying to figure out how the Chinese did it.

What Mao Zedong said about liberalism

Conservatives like to suggest that communism, socialism and liberalism are the same thing. According to Wikipedia:

Communism is a sociopolitical structure that aims for a classless and stateless society with the communal ownership of property.

Socialism is an economic and political theory based on public or common ownership and cooperative management of the means of production and allocation of resources.

Liberalism (from the Latin liberalis, "of freedom" is the belief in the importance of liberty and equality. Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but most liberals support such fundamental ideas as constitutions, liberal democracy, free and fair elections, human rights, capitalism, free trade, and the separation of church and state.

Most social scientists consider communism to be a political system while socialism is an economic system. Capitalism is to fascism is what socialism is to communism. In the real world, most country's have mixed economic systems that have both elements of capitalism and socialism.

Of interest, liberal ideas actually developed before conservative ideas. 

Is liberalism like socialism and communism? The great Chinese leader, Mao Zedong, didn't think so.

Liberalism stems from petty-bourgeois selfishness, it places personal interests first and the interests of the revolution second, and this gives rise to ideological, political and organizational liberalism.

People who are liberals look upon the principles of Marxism as abstract dogma. They approve of Marxism, but are not prepared to practice it or to practice it in full; they are not prepared to replace their liberalism by Marxism. 

These people have their Marxism, but they have their liberalism as well--they talk Marxism but practice liberalism; they apply Marxism to others but liberalism to themselves. POLITICO.com: Michele Bachmann is a welfare queen

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) — so fond of accusing the Obama administration of foisting socialism on an unwilling America — has apparently received about a quarter of million bucks in government handouts.

Liberal site Truthdig links to an Environmental Working Group analysis of federal agricultural subsidies and found that the Bachmann family farm, managed by her father-in-law until his recent death, received $251,000 in farm payments between 1995 and 2006.

Bachmann’s financial disclosure forms indicate her stake in the Wisconsin farm is worth up to $250,000. Her income from the farm has grown from $2,000 a year a few years back to as much as $50,000 for 2008.

Truthdig calls her a "Welfare Queen":

Bachmann's family farm received $251,973 in federal subsidies between 1995 and 2006. The farm had been managed by Bachmann's recently deceased father-in-law and took in roughly $20,000 in 2006 and $28,000 in 2005, with the bulk of the subsidies going to dairy and corn. Both dairy and corn are heavily subsidized — or "socialized" — businesses in America (in 2005 alone, Washington spent $4.8 billion propping up corn prices) and are subject to strict government price controls.

Bachmann isn't alone in her selective socialism: EWG found that the top four districts receiving the largest ag payments are represented by conservative Republicans.

1. 3rd district of Nebraska (Rep. Adrian Smith - Republican) - $1,736,923,011 in subsidies go to 51,702 recipients.

2. 1st district of Kansas (Rep. Jerry Moran - Republican) - $1,315,979,151 in subsidies go to 75,802 recipients.

3. 4th district of Iowa (Rep. Tom Latham - Republican) - $1,288,622,912 in subsidies go to 35,696 recipients.

4. 9th district of Texas (Rep. Randy Neugebauer - Republican) - $1,227,192,312 in subsidies go to 21,290 recipients.

Of course, every one knows it's not socialism when Republicans do it!

Obamolini: the man on the white horse

It's not ever day that America has had a leader who was both a fascist and a socialist. George W. Bush, in fact, never got beyond fascism. Obamolini also bamboozled Americans because he was a Muslim born in Kenya.

The right is so afraid of Obamaolini that they don't want him talking to their kids.  There children might cross over into fascist socialism after they see Obamolini's evil eye. Be afraid, very afraid.

Keep you dog away from Obamolini, too unless its a Portuguese Water Dog. Those dogs are not so tasty. That's why Obamolini hasn't eaten Bo.
