Republicans are hoping for a Macaca moment

Its clear that Andrew  Bretbart and his lackey, pseudo-pimp James O’Keefe, are hoping for a racial incident they can exploit prior to the 2010 elections.

According to Wikipedia, Macaca is a pejorative epithet used by colonialists in Central Africa's Belgian Congo for the native population. The failed re-election campaign of Republican U.S. Senator George Allen of Virginia generated much controversy after he used the word macaca in reference to an Indian American.

It is obvious the Republican activists are hoping to find a racial incident in which a black person is mistreating a white person or a black person is bilking the government  such as the stereotyped black welfare queen.

Because the conservatives have been unable to find a suitable  high profile racial incident, they have stated to manufacture them: the Shirley Sherrod story is a good example of this. Andrew Breitbart manipulated a video to make Sherrod appear to be black racist. Fox News did not hesitate to run the unconfirmed story.

The Republicans have been steaming about Acorn for months and did everything they could to prevent it from registering more Democrats after the 2010 election defeats.

A highly publicized racial incident  would enrage Tea party members and ditto heads and others who view politics as struggle between the man (white) and blacks. The Republicans appear to have a racially charged, neo-confederate view of American politics.

It is time for Democrats and progressives to sue right wing media when they are libeled or defamed.  Democrats should not turn the other cheeks to right wing lies and distortions.

When will conservatives stop serving America the race card?

Editor's Note: Every week conservatives drop the race bomb. This has been continuous since Barack Obama was elected. I thought the race relations were progressing in the US, but the right wing has trouble dealing with a multi-racial president who has been a great job and has a high approval rating.

Last week Pat Buchanan told America on the Rachel Maddow show that the US was founded by 'white people.' Tell that to the blacks who lived in the antebellum South. The black population was as large as the white in most of the Southern states prior to the Civil War.

Brian Kilmeade apologized Monday for controversial comments he made on a July 8 episode of "Fox and Friends."

The controversy arose when Kilmeade and his co-hosts were discussing a Swedish and Finnish study on Alzheimer's disease.

Kilmeade concluded "we [Americans] keep marrying other species and other ethnicities . . . Swedes have pure genes . . . in America we marry everybody...
