I don’t care about the royal wedding. Until today, I didn’t even know the names of the people getting married. But I was curious as to how many of Americans cared about the wedding. Now I know, thanks to the NYT:
Results from a new New York Times/CBS News poll showed that six percent of respondents are following news of the wedding “very closely,” with an additional 22 percent admitting to following the media blitz “somewhat closely.”
Rightardia agrees. the UK monarchy is a throw back to the Middle Ages and it should be dissolved. It cost British taxpayers $390 million a year which is expensive for public relations.
The French had the right idea about nobles: off with their heads. It prevented pretenders to the throne appearing in French society after the French Revolution.
If Tony Blair had any balls when labor took over the UK, he would gotten rid of the Royals by pulling the government subsidy. Put that money into National Health Care.
Why is American media so absorbed with this wedding? They will be talking about it for months to follow.
