Republican Dirty Tricks: End of the Reagan Error

Rightardia has mentioned that the destruction of the middle class started with Ronald Reagan with his supply side economics that led to absurd tax cuts for the affluent.

This was coupled with deficit creating defense spending. GW Bush repeated the errors of Ronnie Raygun.

"For the majority of Americans, Reaganomics was a failure. Even Reagan’s own Budget Director admitted Reaganomics destroyed the economy by turning America from the most to the least upwardly mobile with the widest income gap of all industrialized nations. Stagnating wages and concentrating wealth at the top would be considered a failure if your mission was to create a society that works for all – not just billionaires.

The fact that the Republicans are STILL peddling their trickle-down voodoo speaks volumes that they simply have a different definition of “success.” Namely, the Republicans’ true constituency 'succeeds” when the rich get richer and the working class are permanently ensconced as the more malleable, compliant, and easily exploitable “working poor.'"

AMOG: Reasons Ronald Reagan was a bad president

St. Reagan, the patron saint of conservatives
"8. Not That Great of a Family Man

7. Removed Solar Panels form the White House
6. Reaganomics
Conservatives boast about the success of Reagan’s economic policies, commonly refereed to as Reaganomics. Unfortunately, his policies simply put us in the hole. When Reagan took office in 1980 the government spent $591 billion. By 1986 government spending rose to 68% to $990 billion. Reagan even ran up the deficit from about $40-$50 billion to $200 billion. By the time he left office the national debt was up around $3.5 trillion. Besides the increase in the national debt, Reaganomics established a trend that would continue to inflate the national debt . . .

5. Closed Mental Hospitals
. . .When he became president he cut federal spending for mental hospitals and put that burden on the states, which he did by rescinding President Carter’s Mental Health Systems Act of 1980 . . .

4. Supported Apartheid South Africa
While pretty much everyone in the world thought that apartheid in South Africa was a pretty bad deal, Reagan supported it. During his presidency some 3,000 people were killed, and another 20,000 arrested in South Africa’s struggle to end apartheid. When Congress finally decided that economic sanctions on South Africa in 1986 would help end that injustice Reagan vetoed it.
3. Silence on AIDS
The first cases of AIDS began in 1981
. Year after year the number of cases climbed. In 1983 there were over a thousand reported cases. A year later it was over 4,000, with 1,807 deaths. . By the time Reagan finally mentioned that such a disease existed in 1987, 36,058 Americans had been diagnosed and 20,849 had died. . .

2. The Iran-Contra Affair
This has become one of the worst scandals in American history. The Iran-Contra Affair was simply selling weapons to a known enemy, Iran, in exchange for hostages. The money that was obtained was then used to fund the Contra, which were a right-wing guerrilla organization in Nicaragua. This transaction was not only illegal, it was also contrary to the United States official policies on dealing with terrorist groups.

1. Butcher of Central America
Reagan launched a secret war on Central America while president because he believed that several of these countries had ties to the USSR. . . .Reagan’s actions lead to 300,000 deaths in Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala during his two terms. The UN even called the CIA’s actions in Guatemala as “perpetrators of genocide”. After Reagan’s death in 2004, Father Miguel D’Escoto from Nicaragua had a lot to say about the Republican savior:
I pray that god in his infinite mercy and goodness forgive him for having been the butcher of my people, for having been responsible for the deaths of some 50,000 Nicaraguans."
Ronald Reagan started a GOP trend that continues today: cut taxes for the affluent and start big expensive wars or contingencies. St. Reagan fractured the middle class and started the decline of this country and created an affluent plutocracy in the US.

Today the US has the fifth most unequal income distribution in the world thanks to St. Reagan and other GOP presidents.

The Major worked in military airlift during  Apartheid in South Africa. He confirmed the Us was airlifting supplies weekly to the South African government.

Indeed, Reagan was a successful president who was re-elected. Many Democrats bought into his supply side tax cuts Trojan. We agree with AMOG. Reagan was a bad president with a flawed vision for America.

Where are those Reagan Democrats the GOP covets? Most grew up and others have died. Of interest, seniors were the only group that John McCain won when he ran against Obama.

Newt must stay in the race to save America from itself

Newt implied that he is the only candidate who is the intellectual equal of Ronald Reagan. Reagan was hardly the brightest contemporary president, Richard Nixon was probably a lot smarter. The Newster said:

Other than Ronald Reagan, I know of no Republican in my lifetime who's been able to talk like this," Mr. Gingrich told a banquet crowd here, referring to his own policy ideas on energy, brain science and other matters. "That's why I'm still running, because the gap is so huge.

As speaker Gingrich was arguably the least-liked politician in the entire country with only 9% of Americans wanting him to become president and 49% calling him “scary.”

By 1997, his approval rating was a dismal 25%. He was the “nation’s most unpopular politician.”

Rightardia thinks Gingrich is either a narcissist or a megalo-maniac. Either way he is unsuitable for a national office.

FOD: The Reagan round

Reagan Round - watch more funny videos

Raondl Reagan first ran for the presidency in 1980. Many politicos says his supply side economics fractured the middle class and began the decline that led to the Great Recession.

Republicans always try to invoke his ghost in presidential elections. Newt Gingrich is trying to present himself as Ronnie Raygun reincarnated.

The average American voter could probably care less about the Reagan political  brand.

Where are those Reagan Democrats?

The Newster keeps referring to Ronald Reagan.

It is like the Newster is in a Ronnie Raygun  time-warp. According to the Mitt Romney campaign, the two men really did not get along well and RR only referred to Newt once in his autobiography.

When did Ronald Reagan have signs of Alzheimer's?

President Ronald Reagan probably has Alzheimer's his first term

According to Ron Reagan, President Ronald Reagan was showing signs of Alzheimer's three years into his first term. Reagan was inaugurated in 1981. Ron Reagan was the president's younger son.

Michael Reagan, the conservatives older brother, said:

Ron, my brother was an embarrassment to his father when he was alive and today he became an embarrassment to his mother.

Michael Reagan went on to say:

Yeah, he might have had Alzheimer's or he had Alzheimer's during that time,' just gives credence to people like Bill Maher and others. It absolutely offends me that somebody would say that when there's no evidence anywhere on the planet to back it up.

Michael Reagan did not deny that Reagan has Alzheimer's in 1983-84 if you read his comments carefully.

In fact. Michael Reagan has said a very curious thing about his father.  At his high school graduation, Ronald Reagan introduced himself to his son by saying,

My name is Ronald Reagan. What's yours?

Micheal Reagan said:  "

I'm your son, Mike.

Ronald Reagan.said:

Oh, I didn't recognize you.

The Reykjavík Summit was a meeting between U.S. president Ronald Reagan and Secretary-General of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev in October 1986.

Russian reports indicated that the the Russian delegation was aware that Ronald Reagan has some sort of a medical condition during the summit.

President Reagan became confused about the Russian proposal.

Some, including Reagan staffer Jack F. Matlock, Jr., attribute Reagan’s refusal to compromise on SDI testing to a mistaken belief that the proposed restrictions would be detrimental to the program, Matlock contened, the Russian proposal would have had little effect on research that was still in its very early stage.

Rightardia believes that Ronald Reagan had Alzheimer's in his first term. His staff was probably aware of it but hid it form the public so the popular president could run for a second term in 2005.

We also think Ronald Reagan started the decline of the middle class with his supply side economics. The tax policies of George HW Bush and George W Bush pushed the country into the Great Recession. The Bush Ownership society stabbed the middle class in the heart by pushing millions of Americans out of their homes.

Mike Reagan invokes the ghost of Ronald Reagan

We had a NewsMax text banner ad on Rightardia today.

Newsmax and Mike Reagan reveal who will win in 2012. Find out.
www.newsmax.com

So we took a peek.

Mike Reagan is one of the nastiest snarks we had ever seen on the boob tube. He lived with the Ronald Reagan family in California but was not genetically related to the Reagans.

Mike Reagan thinks Newt Gingrich is is the best candidate to continue "the Reagan legacy."

Please!

First of all, Newt Gingrich is fading fast in the Iowa polls and this is largely due to attacks by conservatives and evangelicals on Newt's character. Conservatives know Newt is a shyster that Democrats would love to run against.

Brit Hume said as much.

Rightardia does not believe Newt will be a factor in the GOP nomination.

What is Mike Reagan smoking?

Secondly why does the GOP keep invoking the ghost of Ronald Reagan? Reagan was president in the 1980s.

Where are the Reagan Democrats?
A lot of them are dead or aging seniors. Some are in nursing homes.

John McCain tried to invoke the ghost of Reagan , too, in the 2008 election.

The Onion did a hysterical piece in which the GOP rejuvenated Zombie Reagan to take back Washington DC.

McCain got nowhere with the Reagan Democrat histrionics.

Sorry, Mike. Neither Newt nor Ronnie Raygun will be factors in the 2012 presidential election.

Who do you think you are fooling?

50 Ways to rile a Republican

  1. Mention Alan Grayson's name.
  2. Say the US is a secular nation according to Article 11 of the Treaty of Tripoli.
  3. Explain that the Founders were the first liberal elite in the US.
  4. Tell them that George W. Bush ranks in the bottom 10 per cent of presidents according to several surveys.
  5. Explain how Ronald Reagan fractured the Middle Class.
  6. Say that supply side economic is Trojan Horse designed to give tax breaks to the affluent.
  7. Quote the Mark Zandi's Moody Analytics study that food stamps and unemployment compensation are more stimulative to the economy than tax cuts.
  8. Explain how the the Bush Ownership Society caused the Great Recession which started in 2007.
  9. Say that Republicans were responsible for the Great Depression, too, because the depression was proceeded by three GOP presidents.
  10. Show that the public doesn't trust the GOP in a crises. We have always had Democratic presidents during World Wars.
  11. Quote FDR: That, in its essence, is fascism - ownership of government by an individual, by a group,”.
  12. Mention that one of the first things Hitler did when he came to power was to eliminate trade unions.
  13. Point out that the Nazis were Christians. That's why they painted Teutonic crosses on their aircraft and tanks,
  14. Say that the top 400 Americans now have a combined income that is almost as much as the bottom 50 per cent of Americans.
  15. Ask why the Republicans changed the Estate Tax so it did not effect 40,000 US millionaires?
  16. Point out that Civil War was not caused by state's rights or slavery. The main issue was the expansion of the institution of slavery into new US territories.
  17. Mention that Ben Franklin said that light houses were more useful than churches,
  18. Explain that millionaires and billionaires who own stocks and bonds pay a smaller tax rate in capital gains than the average American pays for their income tax.
  19. Explain that flat and fair taxes are the fairest to millionaires and billionaires.
  20. Tell this joke. A working man voting Republican is like a chicken voting for Colonel Saunders.
  21. Say that the biggest supporter of a Sarah Palin presidential run is the Democratic Party.
  22. Mention that GOP 212th Congress has an 18 per cent favorability rating.
  23. Ask if Mitt Romney is the first political cyborg.
  24. Ask a wingnut to explain Newt Gingrich's patriotic adultery.
  25. Ask a wingnut how Glen Beck lost 300 of his Fox News advertisers.
I need 25 more from the Rightardia viewers. Help!

Republicans clone a presidential candidate

New GOP presidential hopeful, Strom Pagean

We had heard though a special RNC contact that attempts to reanimate Ronald Reagan were unsuccessful. The Zomby Ron project has been abandoned.

However, using DNA from Ronald Reagan and Sarah Palin, the RNC was able to create a chimera named Strom Pagean (pronounced pa-gan).

Political observers say Strom is a gay man is his late 40's who will appeal to Log Cabin Republicans and GOPROUD.

Strom like to be in front of the camera and say "progress is our most important product." He wants to visit California and Alaska as soon as possible.

RDT: The Adventures of Reagan Hood

Ronald Reagan did extensive damge to the middle class with his supply side economics. Mom had to go to work, the kids were on their own at home and the US education system started to decline. Reaganomics fractured the middle class according to a Federal reserve study.

The funny part about it s that the Tea Party wants more of what did them in. The right wing keeps looking for the next Ronald Reagan, thinking a man on a white horse will save the country.

Nothing could be father form the truth. Another Reagan would push the country into a depression, a feat GW Bush almost accomplished.

League of American Voters: Heed Reagan's Warning on Obamacare

Our great president Ronald Reagan passed away in 2004, but he said something that still resonates today.

Reagan said: "One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project. Most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests medical care for people who possibly can’t afford it.”

Yes, Reagan was hired as a spokesman by the health care industry to oppose Medicare. He believed Medicare would bring socialized medicine to all Americans, Reagan was wrong.

Boy does that resonate!
It sounds like President Reagan had the foresight to see the dangers of Obamacare.

Even more amazing is that Ronald Reagan spoke those words in 1961, before he ever ran for office.

Yes, as a health care industry shill. He was reading a script that someone wrote for him.

But Reagan's comments are not surprising if you understand liberalism.

Creating a national health care system has been a major priority for the left wing for over 50 years!

Indeed, because the system the right likes screws millions out of health care.

Time and again the Congress and the American people have rejected socialized medicine.

Care to provide some examples of socilized medicine the US has rejected? I cannot think of one example. HillaryCare was an HMO run by private enterprise.

Now Obama is pushing for a radical takeover of one-sixth of the U.S. economy.
But Obama is perhaps the most clever liberal ever.

He knows the American people would never go for a national system like they have in Britain or Canada.

Then why does the World Health Organisation ranks is the UK 18th in the world and Canada is the 30th while the US is only ranked 37th? Cuba, a third world country, is ranked 39th.

So his plan calls for several steps for Obamacare to become a reality.
Help us stop his plan

First, he lies and tells people "you keep your doctor, you keep your insurer."
At the same time he creates a "public option" -- allowing any business to move its employees into the public system.

That is the choice of the employer and the employee. Both will now have additional health care options.

He knows what you know this will create a mass exodus from private insurers to the cheaper, taxpayer subsidized public system.
Meanwhile, he plans to add 50 million new patients - including illegal aliens to the system.

So what. Americans pay twice as much for health care than the rest of the industrial world. Why would anyone want to maintain an inefficient gold plated system that pays $ millions to CEOs who are operating a monopoly.

Reagan understood that schemes like Obama's are not about providing quality health care.
It is about statism. It is about government control and dependence. It is a threat to your freedom.

Freedom? If I lose my job, I lose my health care. The way the system is right now, my health care is dependent upon being employed. I'd rather have my government provide health care because I know my government will be there for me. American private enterprise is flaky and unreliable. The entire free enterprise system blows up every 30 to 50 years.

As I write this, millions of Americans are going on vacation.
But Obama and his allies are preparing for a major assault on Congress next week.

You can count on it!

He has also called for a dramatic full session of Congress next week.
He is not calling this session to offer compromise.

What compromise has the right wing offered? Democratic control the House and the Senate. We don't need to compromise. We already tried to the bipartisan route. The GOP will have none of it.

He plans on using his national address to Congress as a giant pep rally to ram his radical program through Congress.

You betcha!

He wants the hoopla of a Congressional speech to overshadow his plummeting poll numbers, the mass protests we saw this summer at town halls across the nation and the growing anger toward his plan by Seniors.
We here at the League of American Voters can't go on vacation.

Actaully, his approaval rating has improved by 5 points in the past 4 days.

We can't compromise with Obama and the radical Democrats.
We need to fight back.

Good luck with that! The Astroturfers aren't dissuading any Democrats.

Right now, we are laying out our plans to continue rolling out our national TV campaign across the nation.
Our ad was created by Dick Morris, the Fox News analyst.
Dick says we are the number one group in the nation fighting Obamacare.

God luck. We will outspend you 3:1 like we did during the 2008 election.
So, we know many of our supporters are taking off this holiday — and we wish you a relaxing and fun time.

Did you have difficulty saying 'Labor Day?'

But we are asking that you strike a blow for freedom, to stand with the principles of Ronald Reagan -- and join and donate to League of American Voters.

Please support us and join with us.
As Reagan said: "If not us, who? If not now, when?"
Exactly. That is is the precise view that the Democrats have of public health care.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Bob Adams
Executive Director
