Sarah Palin is not just as an ignoramus who believed Saddam Hussein was behind 9/11, but also as possibly mentally unstable.
"Game Change," the 2008 deconstruction, says the stress of vaulting onto the national stage caused Palin to have wild mood swings.
"One minute, Palin would be her perky self; the next she would fall into a strange blue funk," the authors write.
The morning of her ill-fated CBS interview with Katie Couric, Palin - "her eyes glassy and dead" - was unresponsive to attempts to prep her as she was being made up.
"As they were about to set off to meet Couric, Palin announced 'I hate this makeup' - smearing it off her face, messing up her hair, complaining she looked fat," the book relates.
Palin went on to give answers to Couric that were so incoherent the interview permanently damaged her.

Note: Controversy seems to be Sarah Palin's middle name. Some political pundits have suggested Palin is a scrapper who love dustups. She also has $500,000 in legal bills to pay to defend against ethics complaints. It appears her efforts to manipulate Alaskan politics is backfiring on her.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is reacting to the doctoring of a photo of her with her latest child, Trig. Palin's latest response comes after progressive Alaskan Blogger Linda Kellen Biegel photoshopped the former Republican vice presidential candidate with her 1-year-old son Trig.
Biegel, who blogs in support of the Alaska Democratic Party under the name "Celtic Diva," superimposed a picture of conservative Alaskan radio host Eddie Burke over Trig's face in an apparent effort to show how close the radio host is with the Alaskan governor. "
Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother's love for a special needs child," said Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapelton. "The mere idea of someone doctoring the photo of a special needs baby is appalling."
