Home users can now make receivers for machine guns with 3D printers. You can own a non-working machine gun as long as the receiver is disabled or missing.
The lower receiver is the part of the weapon where you load the bullets with a cartridge the receiver normally includes a trigger assembly and a safety.
There is a loophole in the law that says you can add the receiver to your disabled weapon if you make the receiver yourself. With a 3D printer,it is now easier than ever to go "full auto."
