In Waterloo, Iowa Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) emphasized she has "the spirit" of John Wayne. Bachmann said:
Well, what I want them to know is just like, John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That's the kind of spirit that I have, too.
The Washington Times noted the John Wayne with roots in Waterloo is John Wayne Gacy, a serial killer who was executed after being convicted of 33 murders in 1994.
John Wayne -- the late B movie star -- was born in Winterset, Iowa,
John Wayne was a conservative icon, but he was also a draft dodger during World War 2 according to The Straight Dope.
While our GIs were fighting the Japanese in the Pacific and the Nazis in Europe, Wayne was having a torrid affair with a Mexican beauty while he was still married.
