Ben Bernanke, the Conservative Messiah, is glammed with faint praise

Time magazine has named the chairman of the US Federal Reserve board, Ben Bernanke, as their person of the year, praising him for his role in helping the country during the recession.

Journalist Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks radio program in the US, calls this title grotesque:

“It’s exactly what’s wrong with the mainstream media – they take this guy who was the captain of The Titanic and they congratulate him for not entirely sinking the ship. It’s ridiculous,” Uygur told RT. “Bernanke is praised for not entirely sinking the ship”
