Gallup: Dump the electoral college

A new Gallup Poll shows a that 62% want to get rid of the Electoral College.

For the first time, Republicans agree with Democrats and independents that the popular vote should stand like most of the the other nations of the world.

What presidents were elected by the electoral college?

1824--John Quincy Adams wins Presidency despite Andrew Jackson winning both
the popular and electoral vote. Jackson failed to win a
majority in either vote so Congress elected
Adams.

1876 Hayes wins Presidency despite the fact that Tilden had 247,000 more
popular votes than Hayes. Hayes won the electoral college
by one vote, 185-184. This election was a political setup.

1888 Grover Cleveland wins Presidency over Benjamin Harrison. Harrison had
90,000 more popular votes, but Cleveland won the electoral college 233-168.

2000- George Bush beats Al Gore for Presidency. This is the closest
Presidential election in history. The hotly contested state of Florida,
with its 25 electoral votes, gave Bush the Presidency. Democrats noted that nearly 100,000 voters were disenfranchised by the Florida Jeb Bush administration in this election.

The Founders were a liberal elite that were afraid of the mob. When the nation was founded, only people who owned property could vote which meant only 12-16 per cent of the public could vote in an election.

The Electoral College is a fossil from that era and it needs to be put in the political dust bin.
